Overland High School Wish Week 2024

As Overland High School starts the month of February, we are looking forward to this wish week. During Wish Week (February 12th to February 16th), Overland High School raises money for a child in Make a Wish; our kid this year was Neymar, an awesome eight-year-old kid. Overland is expected to raise $15,000 throughout this week to make Neymar’s wish to go to Disneyland. . Buying plenty of items, including bracelets, keychains, Mickey Mouse ears, shirts, and much more, to raise money for Neymar’s trip. Also supports Neymar by dressing up as his favorite things like – Soccer, the color red, Chip and Dale, and Patrick from SpongeBob. Each day of this week has a unique theme for participating and dressing up!

. On Monday was “Pajama Day,” Tuesday was “Nostalgic Character Day,” Wednesday was “Neymar’s Favorite Things,”; Thursday was “Jersey Day,” and Friday was “Wearear Redd Day.” Students have always participated in dress-up days before and after school, such as face painting or competitive sports like dodgeball and volleyball.

Lene Gonzales (GRADE) says, “My favorite part of wish week is dressing up. I always look forward to participating in pajama day.”
Similarly, Zenab Boufadize (GRADE) says, “For Wish Week, I was excited about the assembly, and I also like dressing up throughout the week. I participated daily, and my favorite dress-up day was “Nostalgic Character.”

At the end of the week, we topped off Wish Week with an assembly to celebrate Neymar. Neymar was truly welcomed to our Blazer family, with students and staff wearing red and cheering him on. came to the assembly wearing red and cheering him on. Although Overland was initially expected to raise $15,000, the Blazers raised $21,000! Throughout the assembly, the Overland High School Band played many popular songs as well and the Overland High School Theatre performed a number from the upcoming musical, “Cabaret.”.
“I was excited about the assembly to donate more money for Neymar,” Kian Abdi states.

A few students from each grade and teachers participated in fun games such as catching the bean bag and playing soccer with sitting scooter boards. Towards the end of the assembly, each grade sang a song for Neymar and gave him and his family their grand check of $21,000 for Disneyland. Blazers showed Neymar love and support; we hope Neymar has a great time with his family at Disneyland!
